ABOUT RIKALET

Rikalet is a South African composer, contralto singer-songwriter, pianist and lyricist. She takes the listener on a rich and colourful sound journey exploring various moods and textures in her music. A curious multi-instrumentalist, always strongly relying on her creative ability, she focuses on piano, voice, acoustic guitar and organ bass synth. She draws inspiration from the culturally diverse tapestry she grew up in, and experiments with fusion of an array of musical styles. As a passionate writer, her reflective lyrics leave the listener intrigued as she covers a vast variety of existential themes that many can relate to. Her first EP – Mother Tongue – released in January 2019, explores elements of jazz, blues, folk, gypsy jazz, reggae and cabaret. At present she is also working on the release of her EP Dreamtime and first full album, Tourmaline, which is scheduled for release in  2022
